Gibson Livestock

Intergrity Animal Welfare Sustanibility

Gibson Livestock

We are a privately owned and operated cattle producing business with family involvement in the industry for over 60 years. Our properties are in Queensland and the Northern Territory and comprise a total of around 3 million acres of certified organic beef-cattle producing country. We are also proudly GAP animal welfare certified across all stations, and our ROC social fairness certifications are pending.

We take a conscious proactive approach when it comes to caring for our people, our cattle and our land, so that the beef we produce reaches the highest standards of quality possible.

History of Gibson Livestock

The Gibson family’s legacy in livestock production traces back to the early 1970’s when Michael Gibson returned home to the family properties in the Quilpie district.

Michael ran the land with his brother Peter, which marked the beginning of a remarkable journey for the brothers as young men in their mid-20’s.

Over the next five decades, Michael and his wife Marie engaged in hundreds of property and livestock deals, a lot of which have been historic in the industry. Their most cherished accomplishment however, has been the upbringing of their three sons – each of whom operate in the industry today.

Historically, the Gibson family as a whole operated mainly in south west Queensland, running a wool production and beef breeding and finishing operation over a number of places. This transitioned into predominately a beef producing operation after the acquisition of Bulloo Downs, Thargomindah, in 2004.

The family also owned and operated Dynevor Downs near Eulo, Sandringham west of Bedourie, the Binda backgrounding aggregation at Bollon, the Olinda Park feedlot and farming operation west of Dalby, Cobb Downs farming north of Dalby, and the Queensland/Northern Territory border breeding and finishing property, Manners Creek.

Today, Gibson Livestock proudly continues the family legacy in cattle production, with a notable development in our focus being on predominately certified organic practices. This commitment to organic production takes place at our strategic locations at Sandringham, Manners Creek and our Longreach operation, Marmboo.
